At the insistence of some of my readers and with profound gratitude, I now accept financial support for my writing, my activism and humanitarianism, my life, and my family. Here's a post that I wrote about my complex feelings regarding accepting payments:

If you would like to make a contribution, I have set up a way to subscribe. If you have a different number in mind, a different method of payment you prefer, or if you have a non-financial contribution or gift you would like to make, feel free to get in touch and I will accommodate.

Financial support is not tied to your newsletter subscription, so you can have one or the other or both. Similarly, you can cancel one or the other, or both, with no worries that one affects the other.

Reading my writing is free. Reading my writing on this website is free. Subscribing to my newsletter or RSS feed is free. It's all free.

More accurately, though, my writing here is not just free, it is a gift to you. I don't write for money. I do it because I feel the need to write, to speak, to make my voice available to be heard. I write because I can't be quiet. I write because I feel deep responsibility to share my knowledge, but moreover, my experience and perspective. In a world that is trying to erase us, I want more trans, queer, and neurosparkly voices. I want more leftist voices. I want more radical voices.

I want more loving, empathetic, and compassionate voices.

And I want to hear these voices loud and I want them to echo through all of spacetime. I want the ripple of this echo to be cacophonous, resplendent, and musical, all at once.

So, I'll do my best to be what I want to see in the world. I'll skip my stone across the water to make the ripples I can with what I'm able and let them add to the crashing waves we may create together.

As a loud, leftist, trans, queer, neurosparkly woman who is uncomfortable with any gender binary and resists fascism with her words, actions, and spirit, I am a political target. Many of you recognize that my family and I will need support as we continue to keep ourselves safe in this world. That we may need to flee. That even without fleeing, it's always been extremely difficult to find work as a trans woman, and that it's increasingly difficult to find work as things progress. And that we will need support to survive and exist wherever we can.

People have asked for ways to support me, financially and otherwise, and have urged me to open up the ability to accept payment. This is why I am doing so.

I view any contribution as a gift, not as a transaction. Any gift of support you make to me, my family, my writing, my activism and humanitarianism, financial or otherwise, is not taken for granted, and it's not required. It is received with kindness and immense gratitude.

The gift you give of sharing my words with others, so they might echo a bit further, for this I could never possibly thank you enough. Sharing one's own voice is filled with many complexities, but having your voice respected, shared, and amplified, especially when you are a member of a marginalized group, is a tremendous privilege and a gift.
